Nor Furniture but Family Fun

Well, this post has a LITTLE to do with furniture but not much.  I just thought it would be fun to share some pictures from our Day 1 branding.  Tomorrow will be Day 2 of the 1st weekend and next weekend we will be at it again!
Anyways, we got up in the morning and I started cooking at 6:20 and had some coffee here and there, got everyone up and fed.  The 3 oldest and Brady headed out to get the horses to gather up the first group to be branded!  While they did this Burke and I made corn salad and barbques.
Here are some pictures of them bringing them into the corral to wait before they headed out to get the second group!

These next pictures is my youngest and as we were walking down to the alleyway, he started to figure out that there were cows coming into the pen we were walking by.

Once this group was in, they all headed south to gather up a different group so my youngest and I loaded up in the pick up and headed down through the oats field to try and get some more pictures...and boy did we get some good ones!
Ducks hanging out on the river.

Some views from where we are blessed to live!  Isn't it gorgeous??

Once everything got in the corral, I had to go on a "beverage" run over to the little store where we get our mail about 4 miles away and then get back to cooking!  I finished off the meal with hard boiled egg noodle salad, blueberry cobbler, cherry cobbler, homemade whipped topping, boiled smashed rosemary broiled potatoes, watermelon, and barbequed baked beans to add to the already made corn salad and barbeque sandwiches!  YUM YUM!  I think I cooked for 4 hours straight!
I got the back deck all set up with tables and chairs for everyone and once we ate, the kids jumped on the trampoline before we headed back out to finish up!  Hope you enjoy the rest of the pictures!  LOVE BRANDING...nothing like it.  Now that we are done with Day 1 of weekend 1, we will begin all over tomorrow with Day 2 and then next weekend again!  Lots of good food, memories, laughter, and hard work!  Gotta love ranching.

Now onto tomorrow....where I do have a post for furniture as I will be setting up my display area in a shop in town!  Wish me luck!!  ALSO I am so excited to get started on getting our little red shed redone so I have a place to work on projects (I have alot to do, and some custom orders I need to get to!)!!
Here is a picture of the little red shed cleaned out..........look at all that work.....

Counting Down

Well, haven't been on for awhile.  Life has been a whirlwind ...but the countdown is on...to TWO things.  School year coming to an end....I LOVE teaching but am also looking forward to diving into all the neat pieces I have collected over the past few months and get them done.  AND the count down is on for me to put some of the pieces I do in a shop in the town closest to us.  I am excited to get some pieces moved out as my bedroom looks like a furniture store.

I am also trying to figure out how to get a place for me to work SOMEWHERE on this big old ranch...I am sure I can think of something...already have ideas....now the plan is to get the hubby on board!

Well, I am currently working on this old dresser that has knicks, scratches, and even some drawers that are missing a small corner piece.  I had a vision for what I wanted to do and once I started painting it, I realized it had more than I thought...so now...leave it rustic and banged up and incorporate it into the piece or start over and fill them all??  Well, will have to decided and finish it up!  Check back to see!!

ALSO....RANCH CHIC CORRAL WILL BE SELLING THE FOLLOWING T-SHIRTS...leave me a comment if you would like one!!
Shirts come in Jr. Fitted Tees - which are small - XL (order one size larger than a regular fitted tee).  They also come in unisex sizes from S- 2 XL.

LOVE

Good Morning..LOVE ..it is such a complex, complicated word.  The definition of love from the dictionary is.....

love

  [luhv]  noun, verb, loved, lov·ing.
noun
1.
a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.
2.
a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.
3.
sexual passion or desire.
4.
a person toward whom love is felt; beloved person; sweetheart.
5.
(used in direct address as a term of endearment, affection, or the like): Would you like to see a movie, love?

This word is used all across the world and is universal.  SO I decided to take what I LOVE and make something from it.

Okay, so I made this from an ugly canvas I got at our local thrift shop and then painted it.  The items to make LOVE came from a box that got thrown in on some items I was bidding on at an auction....you auction lovers know what I mean....all that extra you get when they keep tossing boxes in while your bidding on a different box!  Well, anyways there were some cool finds in the box of plumbing supplies.

Now for LOVE...so I got this done and it was sitting in our laundry room (where I have now overflowed into from the mud room) and my husband says...."Hmmm...is that from my stuff?"  I respond..."No, it is from one of the boxes of stuff I got from that auction."   Him.."Oh, well just wondering because copper is worth alot."   I just smiled and said "LOVE".

Well I hope you find LOVE in your day today!  I will be taking this piece of JUNK ART to the Mobridge Craft Fair with me!!

Trailer Fever

I am sure many of you vintage, junk lovers know what type of vintage trailers I am talking about.  Well, I am bound and determined to find myself one this summer.  The great part is...I already have a GREAT old vintage car to go with it (1954 Chrysler New Yorker).  It is SWEET and we are going to get it out and get it going this summer.  Well, wouldn't it look even better with a cute trailer on the back?  I heard a He** Yes I think!
So, here is how my journey has gone. I know it is not going to just be all fun and giggles, that I want one that isn't too expensive and am willing to put the elbow grease into it.  The key is finding one that is within my price range and getting it to our ranch.  So I have done searching online, but then found out most of the best options have come from just keeping my eyes open as I drive around the country or in the little towns we go through.  Many treasures just sitting around....and with cash in hand...many takers.  I have inquired about 3 but only found 1 that I really liked.
Well, here is some fun inspiration for you all this morning.  I am excited to continue to share my journey with you on this trailer hunt.  (Many of you know how my mine works, so I keep thinking what a fun addition to Ranch Chic Corral, redone trailers every know and then...we will see about that...the husband thinks furniture and rust stacked up is annoying...not sure what he will think of old campers.)

I am such a turquoise fanatic, that this one just hit the ooohhh jackpot with me!

Well, I have many more I could post but I will just share and be on my daydreaming way back to the real world, not painting or junkin world today!  Talk to you soon!

Furniture Fever

Well, last weekend I spent most of it cleaning out for spring and finding some treasures on our ranch!  This weekend I have had the opportunity to have time to work on quite a few projects...man is my brain going...wish I could just paint and be creative all day long, every day!  BUT I also love teaching and am not willing to give that up yet..although only 21 days until summer vacation for my students and own kids.
If you have been following me on facebook you will know that I have vintage camper fever...my oldest daughter does not...and her and I and our littlest spend most of our summer weekends traveling and they would be the ones who would use it with me the most.  Watch for a fun post tomorrow with different revamped trailers!  BUT today I will post some pictures of projects I will have at the Mobridge Summer Craft Show on Saturday!  I will post more as they all get completed.

This cute mint table has cute legs and is painted in chalk paint with light antiquing.

This is a cute half side table with scalloped edges.  It is stained and done in cream chalk paint.
This dresser is done in gray with blue numbers and white ceramic knobs.  The dresser is also on wheels.  I think it would be great as a craft dresser or a games center.

Okay this last picture is something fun and funky I was inspired to do...watch for pictures.

Have a great night and check back tomorrow for some FUNKY VINTAGE Trailers and MORE FURNITURE and ART!

Decisions...Decisions

Good Morning.  I have not been on blogging for quite some time as my "job"- 5th grade teacher has been busy and my "other job" -ranch wife during calving season has been even busier.  I have a MINOR break this morning and can now write a little about my "love job" - junking and being creative with furniture.

This week I have had to make some major decisions when it comes to jobs and minor decisions on things I love to do.  BUT one decision I know is that I LOVE this picture and really want to do this in my yard this year!  I even have the perfect place for it!  We will see if it actually gets done between rodeo, junkin, flea markets, Junk Round Up, and basketball tournaments!

Next thing is I would like to redo this old barn into a workshop for myself instead of painting in my mud room and laundry room!  I already started cleaning it all out ...once it warms up more I am going to finish cleaning it out and get to work!  Any volunteers?  ALSO I have SO SO SO many tires I am going to make a play gym for my kids with some, planters with others, and swings with some and I am guessing will have even MORE left over if anyone wants some!

LASTLY to help everyone get in the mood for SPRING!  Here is the featured item for the week!  This fun PERIWINKLE PRETTY PURPLE Chair...it is distressed with a fun spring fabric....buy this week and get it for $40

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE WEEK!  Easter is a beautiful time! Celebrate the life we were given to love the things we do!

Love/Hate Relationship with GLITTER paint!

Okay, so it has been quite some time since I have been on.  I am guilty of taking a blogging break to get some things in order for getting Ranch Chic Corral into some stores!  YEAH!!! And can't lie to also watch my kids play basketball, and wrestle and it is CALVING season at Ranch Chic Corral which makes our lives slightly altered.
Okay so have you seen the new spray glitter.....Awesome, right I know!  Anyways I have all these cool ideas going around in my head for them and had some old chairs that were pretty neat and I couldn't find the spindles to replace the ones broke so I decided I would DECORATE or should I say GLITTER for Spring colors!  Well, my idea was in my head and I started with a base coat and then used the spray glitter, which I thought was going good until.......I didn't shake it enough first so had random spots.  THEN the can really needed to be shook quite often while using and did not do, so more random spots.  THEN the nozzle broke causing it to DRIP onto the chair...YIKES.........SO long story short, this is one of the chairs and it has been one of the LEARNING projects that I was anticipating to take 2 days and it took more like 7 days!  But being a teacher, I am glad I learned and am going to know how to use it better the next time!
I think this chair would like great on a porch for spring or in an entry way with a white enamel pot on the seat with some beautiful flowers in it!

I have many more projects I have done and will be posting pictures as I get them uploaded!  Have a great week!
Also do not forget to check out www.junkroundup.blogspot.com .........it is an event on AUGUST 10th, that Ranch Chic Corral will be hosting!  I have been going to some local auctions and have many more on my schedule along with some junkin trips and have found some great finds!
